I'm an outdoor educator, facilitator, teacher, and traveler with experience teaching in the classroom, outdoors and internationally. I'm passionate about girls' education access and using the outdoors as a powerful learning tool. I'm currently teaching in Rwanda at a school for Afghan girls.

Outdoor Education Experience

I have over 15 years experience teaching outdoor and experiential education, including environmental science in Yosemite National Park. I have worked with Outward Bound California as a Program Manager for the Southern California program, as an instructor and course director leading multi-day backpacking and rock climbing trips in Joshua Tree and the Sierra Nevada mountains, and a high ropes facilitator for urban San Fransisco programs.

International Experience

From work travel experience backpacking in Australia and New Zealand, walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain, teaching in Japan and China, to time in Kenya with women's empowerment projects through a nonprofit called Naretoi, my travel resume is filled with adaptability, learning and humility that is applicable in multiple work and life contexts.  Click below for a the trailer for a documentary highlighting the cross cultural mountain expedition with Naretoi in Kenya.

A Blog by Michael M. Brown highlights some qualities and skills transferable to any workplace from Outward Bound

"Knowledge emerges only through invention and reinvention, through the restless, impatient continuing hopeful inquiry human beings pursue in the world, with the world and with each other."
